My Philosophy
As a social worker, I am highly attuned to the daily social, institutional, and communal injustices that impact different historically oppressed people. My counseling philosophy is grounded in trauma-informed practices and I value collaboration, empowerment, and emotional and physical safety above all else. In time, clients will gain a richer understanding of themselves while working towards self-determined goals. I am especially sensitive to those experiencing LGBT issues, activists, trauma, and depression, as well as various non-monogomous relationships.
To supplement a trauma-informed practice, I often consider CBT, brainspotting, mindfulness, ACT, DBT, narrative, and solution-focused therapies when supporting a client. For those working towards understanding unconscious bias based on race, ability, class, or creed, I take an antiracist, intersectional, and systems lens to support growth and accompliceship development.
